Angelina Duran’s objective is to empower and educate educators toward becoming effective instructional leaders and teachers in their schools and other educational settings. It’s important for educators to feel empowered and able to perform their duty to the best of their abilities, and Angelina has made it her professional goal to assist people in achieving their own goals within educational settings. She has a strong focus on minority populations and diverse school settings, supporting these schools with her Restorative Practices.

Angelina Duran is an educator in Denver, CO, who has been passionately helping students with her expertise for eighteen years. She began her educational career as a school psychologist and educational diagnostician before transitioning to administration in special education as a specialist and a director. Afterward, she was a principal for a Title I elementary school, helping shift the school culture from being a School of Promise to a school of Excellence. Under her guidance, Angelina helped her school be awarded two state awards. 

As a researcher and academic, Angelina Duran implemented Restorative Practices in schools and continues to be a leader and speaker throughout Colorado. She is passionate about equity and diversity in education and society, participating in multiple forums to support promoting awareness, learning opportunities, and equitable practices within schools and organizations.

Additionally, she supports mental health and challenging behaviors in schools—her approach is to create structures and cultures that support growth and understanding among students, staff, families, and their communities. 

She further promotes the welfare of schools by ensuring safety and security through a strategic approach. This includes proactive security measures and providing the necessary support for challenging student behaviors through Restorative Practices and high levels of accountability. Overall, Angelina Duran works tirelessly toward an inclusive learning environment for all that provides layers of support for everyone to achieve success both within and outside of the organization. It’s vital for everyone to take the necessary steps toward successful student outcomes, and Angelina wishes for her actions to help students be at their best. 

Angelina Duran is a spiritual person in her strong connections with others and herself. Both professionally and personally, she does her best to truly understand others so she can best serve as a transformational leader and support system for growth. She recently completed Yoga Teacher training and reached Reiki Master level certification. Angelina is a genuine person who feels immense gratitude for all that has happened in her life; she believes that each person’s journey in life happens in a way that’s meant to teach the person lessons for growth and understanding. 

Outside of her educational career, Angelina Duran is a proud mother of two young boys. They recently relocated to Denver, where she is now the Principal of Cherry Creek Elevation Elementary. She enjoys taking her boys out for adventures by exploring Colorado, wanting to show them the world they live in while leaving positive footprints along the way.
